Advice for New Teacher Librarians

22 Sep

Find a well known teacher librarian, someone who can answer your questions. It is preferable to have more than one. You can find these teacher librarians on the internet. Choose one who publishes a lot and has a strong, maybe even ubiquitous, presence on the web. These people can be invaluable sources of advice. I recommend the following such teacher librarians: Buffy J. Hamilton (Creekview High School in Canton, GA), Dr. Joyce Valenza (Springfield Township High School in Springfield, PA), and Barbara Jansen (St. Andrew’s Episcopal School – Upper School, Austin, Texas). All three of these teacher librarians are very dedicated to what they do, very knowledgeable, and very happy to help new teacher librarians!
